Medical Microneedling

Medical microneedling is a non-invasive treatment that reduces wrinkles and fine lines, improve skin texture and tone and address dark spots, sun damage, scars and stretch marks.

At Grassroots Naturopathic Medicine, we only invest in the best and safest technology available, which is why we selected eDermaStamp as the solution for our patients' skin needs. The eDermaStamp is the most advanced type of microneedling device available and a Health Canada approved medical microneedling device.

Who can benefit from medical microneedling?

There are many people who can benefit from microneedling treatments using our eDermaStamp® system. It is used to treat a wide variety of skin issues. You are an ideal candidate for this service if you have:

  • Wrinkles

  • Loss of skin volume

  • Acne scarring

  • Skin pigmentation concerns

  • Fine lines

  • Enlarged pores

It is the best way to encourage the skin to produce its own collagen and elastin, resulting in thicker, more supple and visibly younger looking skin.

The Difference: Beware of Imitations

Our microneedling process provides an even treatment of hyaluronic acid to engage the skin's natural regeneration process to promote collagen production and restore the elasticity evenly in the skin. This results in visibly younger, vibrant and healthier looking skin. If you have wrinkles, fine lines, pigmentation, acne scars, and other skin issues, the eDermaStamp pen will help return the glow to your skin.

The eDermastamp® is the original device of its kind. All other derma-rolling devices have been fashioned after the this system and it's important to understand the differences:

✔ Licensed by Health Canada

The eDermastamp® is the only medical microneedling device licensed by Health Canada. There are countless products on the market that are not licensed by Health Canada so we recommend you do your research, to protect your health and your skin.

✔ Certified Medical-Grade Equipment

The eDermastamp® system is ISO13485 certified (certified medical device), meeting all standards for medical-grade equipment in manufacturing, materials, sterile packaging and more.

✔ Safe Micro-Needles

The medical-grade micro-needles of our eDermastamp® are atraumatic (non-traumatic) cone-shaped needles that displace the skin, creating a micro-wound that seals within minutes of treatment. Other devices are made with knife-shaped needles that slice through tissue and risk causing traumatic skin, vessel and nerve damage. This means a more painful treatment, longer recovery time and unnecessary discomfort and redness.

✔ Non Ablative

Where other scar and anti-aging treatments are ablative (destroying tissue), our eDermastamp® system respects the integrity of your skin, using atraumatic (non-traumatic) perforations to gently trigger the generation of new tissue.

✔ Optimal Needle Count and Consistency

Don’t be misled by microneedling pens that boast “the most needles”. Though we want to maximize the number of perforations, too many needles compromise the safety and comfort of the treatment. Our eDermastamp® system employs the optimal number of needles to maximize effectiveness, safety and comfort. Our eDermastamp® provides consistent perforations while needling the skin. Portable, battery-powered pens lose their speed and consistency over the course of a treatment resulting in more pain, inconsistent results and a longer healing time.

The Process: Your Medical Microneedling Experience

Medical microneedling is the most common application for resurfacing skin texture. The treatment also combats discoloration, enlarged pores, acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines and crepey skin. Even if you don’t have any major skin issues, medical microneedling can give you a beautiful, dewy appearance and glow.

Medical microneedling - our individualized approach

Before your treatment, your naturopathic doctor will conduct an assessment of your skin and ensure that this treatment is safe and appropriate for you. The needle depth applied depends on the particular skin issues being addressed. If you have deep scars, like those from acne the needle will need to go further down into the skin. If your only skin concerns are more superficial, like large pores or pigmentation, then less depth is needed. However, each face is unique and the depth will be adjusted to provide the most benefit for each specific area.

Your naturopathic doctor will also recommend personalized home-based after care, including formulating a personalized combination of cosmetic active booster and advanced cream formulas based on your individual skin needs.

Microneedling shouldn't be painful

Once your naturopathic doctor has assessed and determined that medical microneedling is safe and appropriate for you, your face will be numbed using a topical anesthetic. This numbing will take about 20 minute to set in and will wear off over the next couple of hours. Microneedling is commonly described as like a mild prickly feeling. Be sure to talk to your naturopathic doctor to address any of your concerns.

The game-changing mask

After your microneedling treatment is complete, your naturopathic doctor will apply a soothing and ultra-hydrating silk mask. This mask, rich with hyaluronic acid and peptides, will provide an intense moisture boost and reduces the appearance of the skin's redness by up to 70%! On average, patients experience some redness for two to four days. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.

Let the rejuvenation begin!

For the first 24 hours after your treatment, we advise that you refrain from washing, sweating or wearing make-up, as your skin is still in the initial stages of healing and rejuvenating. Subsequent treatments deliver the most dramatic and lasting results from your microneedling sessions. As your collagen production continues, it is common to see continued improvement in your skin’s appearance up to six months after the treatment.

It is recommended for most patients to receive a series of three treatments spaced about six weeks apart. Patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars should receive at least six to eight sessions at six-week intervals in order to see optimal results.
